![]() ![]() Firewire ports typically are powered at 25 Volts but may carry anything from 9 V to as much as 30 volts at up to 8 watts.įW and USB are dramatically different in so many ways, that the simple inexpensive cable adapters just don't (can't) work. USB-2 ports carry +5 volts at 0.5A with power limited to 2.5 watts. USB is a "half-duplex" protocol, while Firewire is "full-duplex". USB-2 requires a "bus-master" to control data transfer, and Firewire uses a peer to peer connection. The data protocols are different, and the operating voltage on the ports are different. ![]() Simple molded or cable "USB to Firewire adapters" generally won't work and most manufacturers (including Focusrite) warn customers against using them. If the interface worked perfectly before you connected it to that "FW/USB adapter", and now it doesn't, you probably have already pinpointed your problem. It probably won't help, but you should at least confirm that the driver is OK. Please click ' Restart ' on the left side of the screen.Please click ' Start' on the left side of the screen.Find ' Focusrite Control Server' in the list and click it.Right-click the Windows ‘ Start’ menu and click ' Control Panel'.Double-click on ' FocusriteControlServer ’ > Click ‘ Quit ’.Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor > Find ' FocusriteControlServer’.Try restarting the Focusrite Control Server on your computer by following the steps below.Ensure that the checkboxes next to 'Focusrite Control' are ticked.Click 'Allow an app through Windows Firewall'. ![]() Locate 'Focusrite Control' and 'Focusrite Control Server' in the list, then set these to 'Allow incoming connections'.Click 'Firewall options' (Note: if this is greyed out, click the Lock symbol in the bottom left corner and enter your computer password first).Go to 'Security and Privacy' and navigate to the 'Firewall' tab.Please note that 3rd party Firewall/Anti-Virus software may not have the same layout as below, if in doubt consult the software manufacturer. If it does, you can then add Focusrite Control as an exception (steps for Mac FireWall and Windows FireWall below). Do you have any Firewall/Anti-Virus software running that could potentially be blocking the connection? The best way to check this is to temporarily disable any such software and check if this fixes the issue.If both devices are already connected to the same WiFi network, are they on the same subnet? When using almost all 'home' routers this will be done automatically and should only be an issue if you have a more complex network set up.Have you made sure that both the computer running the Focusrite Control desktop app and the iOS device you're using is connected to the same WiFi network? If they are already and you're experiencing disconnections, is your router quite far away from the computer/iOS device? The further away from the wireless router, the weaker the signal.It is currently not possible to change settings for your interface from the iOS device when it's physically connected to your iOS device. Are you connecting your interface directly to your Windows or Mac computer? If you are connecting the interface to your iOS device, the Focusrite Control app will not detect it.Do you have the latest version of the Focusrite iOS Control app? If not, please install this from the App Store application on your iOS device. ![]()
